Job Title: Forensic Field Officer


Main Responsibilities


Ensures the forensic analysis of the context by maintaining an
overview on the forensic situation in Nigeria, particularly for relevant
population in the Northeast
Works effectively within relevant programmes to advance issues
related to forensic science, in particular the management of the dead
from armed conflict
Organising of training courses and field visits in the area covered by
the position.
Assists in the implementation of ICRC’s Forensic Strategy and
activities related to this file.
Organises workshops on management of human remains to various
target populations
Assists in the dissemination of the organisations' communications on
forensic science and humanitarian action
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
Forensic practitioner holding a Masters' Degree or equivalent in
Medical, Biological or Forensic Sciences.
3-4 years professional experience in similar field activity.
Forensic dissemination experience and skills and capacity to adapt the
message to diverse audiences;
Practice in the field of forensic sciences and humanitarian practice;
Commitment towards highest forensic scientific and ethical standards;
Good command of written and spoken English and speaking Kanuri,
and Hausa would be a strong asset.
Good computer skills, good command of standard software and
knowledge of internet search.
Good knowledge of geographically assigned environment.

personality, ability to work independently and within a team
Ability to travel in all parts of the country
Ability to work under pressure and in a hazardous environment
Good analytical skills
Willingness to receive all appropriate vaccinations required as deemed
necessary for working directly with human remains. In exceptional
circumstances demonstrated handling human remains in mortuaries,
cemeteries, hospitals and at death scenes where ICRC may be
requested to provide hands-on support.
